Summer is over and fall is here! Pool parties and backyard barbeques are being set aside for the holiday season. As we make way for the transition from summer to fall, it can be quite easy when you prepare in advance. Many of us are watching the pocketbooks nowadays, but a lot can be done for very little. Make a list of items that you may need to cozy up your rooms. The key is to purchase items that will make the most contribution without breaking the bank.
The key is simplicity. Clean, crisp lines complemented with rich, warm colors and textures. A comfortable living space should be fresh and un-cluttered and reflects your own personal design style. There are many ways you can accessorize for the fall by adding warm comforter sets to the bedroom, seasonal dinnerware and table linens to the dining room or area rugs, draperies and throw pillows to the living room. Think of essentials that you will use every day.
Start with the front door. Adding a fall wreath to the front door sets the tone for the rest of the home. Wreaths, garlands and swags give the door, wall, or staircase an added decorative element. Andrea Lauren is here to help you with this is. We are having a holiday decoration workshop Friday November 12th from 10am-1:30pm. Please join us and we can help guide you by adding that final element to your home that will make the season come alive.
An instant make-over would be to purchase a sofa cover in a soft color for fall. This will change the entire ambience of your space. You may wish to purchase a set of new drapes or valances just for the fall/winter months that can be easily removed for spring/summer. Add new throw pillows to the sofa and chairs in nice earth tones. Pottery to hold this seasons bounty of fruits and vegetables. A harvest themed centerpiece, dishes and a table runner to the dining room table sets the mood and prepares you for Thanksgiving.
Set your scene with scents. Set baskets out with kindling, pinecones and cinnamon sticks and candles in fall aromas such as cinnamon, pumpkin or apple spice. The scents will remind you every day of the season. Just as you store away your summertime luxuries for a cold winter season you can store away some fall decor items to bring out on a whim. All of these items can easily be stored when spring rolls around. By nature we need these comforts and they truly make a difference in how we feel in our rooms during the cold blustery beautiful season of fall. If you need help preparing for the holiday season, whether it’s Thanksgiving or Christmas, we are here to help.
