Fall is in the Air!

Summer is over and fall is here! Pool parties and backyard barbeques are being set aside for the holiday season. As we make way for the transition from summer to fall, it can be quite easy when you prepare in advance. Many of us are watching the pocketbooks nowadays, but a lot can be done for very little. Make a list of items that you may need to cozy up your rooms. The key is to purchase items that will make the most contribution without breaking the bank. The key is simplicity. Clean, crisp lines complemented with rich, warm colors and textures. A comfortable living space should be fresh and un-cluttered and reflects your own personal design style. There are many ways you can accessorize for the fall by adding warm comforter sets to the bedroom, seasonal dinnerware and table linens to the dining room or area rugs, draperies and throw pillows to the living room. Think of essentials that you will use every day. Start with the front door. Adding a fall wreath to the front door sets the tone for the rest of the home. Wreaths, garlands and swags give the door, wall, or staircase an added decorative element. Andrea Lauren is here to help you with this is. We are having a holiday decoration workshop Friday November 12th from 10am-1:30pm. Please join us and we can help guide you by adding that final element to your home that will make the season come alive. An instant make-over would be to purchase a sofa cover in a soft color for fall. This will change the entire ambience...

Let’s Celebrate This Summer

There’s something special about summer, isn’t there? It’s the season of the Fourth of July, poolside parties, family reunions, and informal entertaining.  It’s also a time to have fun with your summer décor!  To help you plan, I’m providing you some inspiration for those upcoming festivities. I love these ideas for summer celebrations: When you want elegance, use hurricane lamps for centerpieces and candlelight.  These are glass pillars originally made to protect lighted candles from the wind and they come in varying sizes.    For casual get-togethers, string paper lanterns on the porch or around the pool.   Pick a theme, and add touches through dishes, glassware, tablecloths, and accessories. The beach is a natural inspiration at this time of year. Place gorgeous shells on the serving buffet and tables, and coordinate tablecloths and napkins in shades of coral, sea green and blue.   On the Fourth, it’s time for red, white, and blue! For an imaginative look, mix in a variety of shades of blue. Glassware could be light blue or turquoise, for example. Also, choose pretty tablecloths with a pattern of red or blue on a white background. Or use single-color natural fiber placemats – set the table by alternating red mats and blue mats, and top with white dinnerware or sturdy white paper plates.   For backyard barbecues, use decorative plastic plates instead of paper, and real silverware. Your guests will need plenty of napkins – stack extras in easy-to-reach baskets and it will be a snap to get more as needed.   If you’d like a professional touch to make your home a standout party venue,...
